The Medical Education Unit (MEU) in Christian Medical College, Ludhiana was established in 1992. Since that time, the MEU has conducted many workshops and training programmes for faculty development. The MEU was upgraded to Department of Medical Education (DOME) in 2014.
In the year 2005, the department got associated with FAIMER, Philadelphia (Foundation for Advancement of Medical Education and Research) and CMC became one of the three Regional FAIMER centres (CMCL FAIMER Regional Institute) in the country. 16 Fellows are selected each year for the two-year Fellowship Programme.
The Medical Council of India recognized CMC as a Regional Centre for Faculty Development in 2009 which was later upgraded to a Nodal Centre in 2014.The NMC Nodal Centre regularly conducts Basic Course for Medical Education Technologies, Curriculum Implementation Support Program, AETCOM sensitisation programs, Orientation programme for MEU co-coordinators for allocated 54 medical colleges and Fellowship in Medical Education(FIME) programme for faculty from South East Asia region. The faculty of DOME has significantly contributed to New Competency Based Curriculum of MBBS .
